Threads Webinar: Best Practices and Integration Recommendations

In December 2024, Threads arrived to True Anthem, allowing publishers to seamlessly integrate the platform into their existing social media strategy.

Following the launch, Chris Hart and Ashley Carufel of True Anthem teamed up with Etienne Blanc, Product Marketing Manager for Threads, and representatives from the Associated Press and Allrecipes to discuss the new platform.

Takeaways from the discussion are detailed below, but you can also watch a recording of the webinar here or download the slides at the bottom of this page.

Threads Best Practices

The following recommendations were shared by Etienne Blanc, Product Marketing Manager for Threads.

1. Maintain a High Post Frequency

  • Post Often: Higher post frequency is directly linked to higher impressions per post among creators and publishers.
  • Consistency is Key: Building a community requires regular posting and ongoing presence.

2. Always Include Text with Visual Content

  • Combine Text with Media: Video, photo, and carousel posts that include text perform significantly better than media-only posts.
  • Experiment with Formats: Utilize a mix of text-only, photo, video, carousel, polls, GIFs, and voice-threads.

3. Leverage Topic Tags for Organic Discovery

  • Drive Search Reach: Topic tags help non-followers discover your content via search and topic exploration.
  • Algorithm Clarification: Topic tags do not provide an explicit algorithmic boost, but they significantly enhance organic search visibility.

4. Drive Audience Engagement & Conversation

  • Reply to Threads: Replies account for nearly half of all views on Threads, making community interaction essential.
  • Ask Questions: Posts that ask questions or invite opinions naturally drive higher conversation rates and are more likely to be recommended.
  • Tap into Cultural Moments & Humor: Engage with ongoing trends, current events, and humorous content to gain higher view counts.

Insights from Associated Press & Allrecipes

The following insights were shared by Alex Connor, Afternoon News Editor for the Associated Press, and Heather Oldenborg, Social Media Editor for Allrecipes.

  • Automation Frees Up Engagement Time: Using True Anthem's automated publishing for standard link and media posts allowed social teams to focus on real-time engagement and community management.
  • Cross-Platform Adaptability: Adapting strategies from other text-forward platforms provided a solid baseline when initially launching on Threads.
  • Text-Only Engagement: Text-only prompts and conversational questions continue to drive high audience interaction.

Key True Anthem Capabilities for Threads

  • Multi-Format Scheduling: Schedule link posts, photo posts, carousel posts, and video posts directly from the True Anthem Dashboard.
  • Post Customization: True Anthem offers support for Alt Text, Link in First Comment, and Topic Tags. Adding a topic tag works just like adding a hashtag in the Post Editor, automatically appearing as a native Topic Tag on Threads.
