Instagram: How to Tag Handles and Collaborators

With Instagram people tagging in True Anthem, you can tag up to 20 public Instagram accounts per post—directly in the Post Editor. Tagging helps increase visibility and reach by surfacing your content on the tagged profiles’ “Tagged” grid.

This guide walks you through exactly how to tag Instagram accounts in photo, video, and carousel cover images.

📌 What’s Required

• The account you’re tagging must be a public account on Instagram.
• You must input the exact match of the username to search for and confirm the tag. Only professional accounts with an exact match of the username can be searched for confirmation. Non-professional public accounts must contain an exact match but will not yield any search results, though you can still tag the account in your post.

🪄 Step-by-Step: How to Tag People

1. Click the Tag People icon

At the bottom of your image or video preview, click the person icon to open tagging options.

Tooltip: Tag up to 20 public Instagram accounts. Type a username and click the + button.

2. Enter the Instagram username

Start typing the account’s exact handle. Click the + button to search.

3. Confirm the account match

If the account exists and is eligible, it will appear with a profile preview.

Click the matching account to continue.

4. Apply the tag on the image

Once the account is confirmed, the Tag People modal will open.

• Hover over the image or video frame
• Click anywhere to apply the tag
• You’ll see the username appear in a label
• Click Save Tag
   

5. Repeat to tag up to 20 accounts

You can repeat Steps 2–4 to add more tags.

6. Review Your Tags

Once tagging is complete, you’ll see the number of people tagged reflected in the collapsed view:

“User not found or is not registered as a professional account. Confirm if {{username}} is the account you want to tag.”

Click Confirm Tag if you still want to attempt tagging manually.
