Important Context
At True Anthem, we have optimized our system to upload and securely schedule your video content directly with Meta's (Facebook's) internal scheduling system via their Graph API. This means that when you see a successful initial upload, the video is confirmed on Facebook's servers.
If a video later fails to post, it means the failure occurred on the Meta platform itself, after the hand-off from True Anthem.
Since the failure happens within Meta’s infrastructure, we do not receive detailed error codes that would allow us to diagnose every specific cause. To fully investigate and resolve the issue, you must consult Meta's guidelines and/or contact your Meta representative.
Here are the most common reasons why Facebook may reject or fail to post a video:
1. Video Technical Specifications & File Requirements
Videos that do not meet Facebook's specific file size, format, resolution, or duration requirements may be successfully uploaded but fail at the final posting stage.
| Failure Category | Common Causes | Meta Documentation Link |
|---|---|---|
| Unsupported Format/Codec | The video file is not in a supported format (e.g., MP4 or MOV). | Recommended Specs |
| Incorrect Duration | Video is shorter than 1 second or longer than the maximum allowed time. | Recommended Specs |
| File Size Limit | The video file exceeds the maximum size limit (e.g., 10GB). | Recommended Specs |
| Aspect Ratio/Resolution | The aspect ratio or resolution is outside the platform’s acceptable range. | Recommended Specs |
2. Content Policy Violations and Copyright
Facebook's automated content review system can flag and prevent a post from publishing if it violates Community Standards or contains copyrighted material.
| Failure Category | Common Causes | Meta Documentation Link |
|---|---|---|
| Community Standards | Content is flagged for hate speech, violence, graphic content, or other violations. | Community Standards |
| Copyright Infringement | The video contains music, video footage, or other content protected by copyright. | About Copyright |
| Duplicate Content | The system flags the content as a duplicate of another recently posted or scheduled item. | IP Rights Policy |
3. Account-Level Issues and API Errors
In rare cases, the posting failure can be due to security or temporary issues on the Facebook account or platform.
| Failure Category | Common Causes | Meta Documentation Link |
|---|---|---|
| API Throttling/Rate Limit | Your Facebook Page has exceeded the allowed number of API calls/posts within a given time frame. | Rate Limiting |
| Security Checkpoint | Your Facebook account requires a security check, which can temporarily block all publishing. | Security Help Center |
| Temporary System Error | An unknown or intermittent error on Meta’s servers prevents the final publishing step. | API Error Codes |
Next Steps for Troubleshooting
If your video fails to post, we recommend the following steps:
- Check Meta's Documentation: Compare your video's specifications and content against the links provided above.
- Attempt a Direct Upload: Log directly into your Facebook/Creator Studio account and try to upload the file manually. If it fails there, the issue is definitively on the Meta side.
- Contact Your Meta Representative: For recurring or high-volume failures, the best resource is your dedicated representative or the official Meta support channels. They have access to internal logs that detail the exact reason for the final posting failure.
