Photo Editor: Auto Font Size

Auto Font Size enables you to control the layout of your photo template while letting the AI determine the font size in True Anthem’s Photo Editor. Instead of applying a rigid point size to text boxes, Auto Font Size automatically resizes text to ensure that regardless of the character length of the chosen CMS field, the text will fit inside the pre-defined text box without running over boundaries. Auto Font Size is a great option for brands that prioritize time-savings and efficiency in their automation. If you lean into having a consistent font size for all of your graphics, Auto Font Size might not be ideal for your use case. 

In short, it automatically changes your font size to fit the space of the text box.

When publishing social graphics at scale, article headline lengths vary significantly. Auto Font Size addresses critical design and automation challenges:

• Prevents text overflow from going off the edge of the canvas 
• Eliminates the need of having to do manual repositioning for each post

To enable Auto Font Size on your templates, follow the steps below:

1. Open the Photo Editor and click on Overlay if you are building a template from scratch or select a pre-existing template from your library to edit.

   

    

2. Click the Add Text button at the bottom of the Photo Editor to add a new text box, or edit an existing text box if you are editing an existing template.

   

    

3. Drag the corners of the text box to define how much space you’d like the text to fill up on your canvas. This boundary tells the AI system: "Do not allow text to exceed this defined area".

   

    

4. With that text box still selected click the font size dropdown menu in the bottom bar and select Auto from the font size list. Note that your text box might not look different once Auto Font Size is applied. You’ll only really notice the feature functioning properly when the CMS fields from the articles are populated in the template.

   

    

5. (Optional but recommended) Click the Advanced Settings button and choose an Anchor Text Box direction to set which direction the text emerges from as lines scale.

   - If the text box is near the bottom of the canvas, you’ll want to use the button where the arrow is pointing down.
   - If the text box is near the top of the canvas, you’ll want to use the button where the arrow is pointing up.
   - If the text box is near the center of the canvas, you’ll want to use the button where the arrow is pointing in both directions.

   

    

6. Finally, once you’ve done all of your other edits to your template, click on the downward arrow next to the green Apply in the lower right corner and select “Save Template” (if updating an existing template) or “Save as New Template” if creating a brand-new template.
