Photo Template Automation Troubleshooting

This guide will take you through some of the most common Photo Template Automation scenarios that our publishers are running into and a solution for each one. Use the linked articles below to get an in-depth guide on the feature that is needed.

Scenario 1: Static text on templates

My template’s headline is saying “My title” for all of my articles in the queue. I would like it to be populated with the headline. What should I do?
Solution: Since the “My title” headline is static text, you would need to use the Dynamic Text Mapping feature in order to pull the appropriate metadata from your CMS. In this case, that would be the Title.

Scenario 2: Long headlines go off the edge

Some of my longer headlines go off the edge of the canvas. Is there a way we can prevent that?

Solution: There are two ways to approach this depending on your editorial preference on font sizing. If you would prefer to have the text fit inside your text box regardless of the length of the headline, you could use our Auto Font Size feature. If you would instead prefer to have the same font size throughout your templates, you could use our Anchor Text Box feature.

Scenario 3: My manually edited posts are not automated

I have a couple of manually edited posts that are recirculating and they do not have my templates automated in the queue. Why is that?

Solution: Since any manual actions in True Anthem supersede any automation, your template will not be automated while in its edited state. Instead, you would need to manually revert the Version History of your article to be the “From Web Site” version. Once your article is reverted, the automation should work.

Scenario 4: Cannot see my Shared Templates or Preset Templates

When I enter the Photo Editor, I am unable to see the Shared Templates or the Preset Templates. Why is that?

Solution: By default, the Photo Editor will only present you with the templates you have created. By hovering over the arrow next to the My Templates section to open up the menu, you will be able to toggle on the rest of your available templates.

Scenario 5: My link posts are not automated with a template

When I look at the queue, I see that my link posts do not have a template in the same way my photos do. Why is that?

Solution: Photo Template Automation can only be applied to photo posts and not link posts. If you would prefer to have the templates for those posts as well, they would need to be converted into photo posts.
