Photo Editor: Anchor Text Box

The Anchor Text Box feature of the Photo Editor controls the fixed starting point or vertical origin of text inside a text box, determining which direction the text box expands as you add or remove content.. When automating your templates using CMS fields like titles, the lengths can fluctuate significantly. Setting an explicit anchor point makes sure that dynamic text grows predictably and does not go off the borders of the canvas.

This is particularly important when you are using the same size font throughout your photo templates. Without an anchored text box, longer titles or multi-line headlines could expand and run off the top, bottom, or edges of the canvas. This feature is recommended if you are not going to use the Auto Font Size feature.

NOTE: All of True Anthem’s Preset Templates already leverage Anchor Text Box by default.

To use the Anchor Text Box feature, follow the steps below:

  1. Open the Photo Editor and click on Overlay if you are building a template from scratch or select a pre-existing template from your library to edit.

  2. Click the Add Text button at the bottom of the Photo Editor to add a new text box, or edit an existing text box if you are editing an existing template.

  3. Click the Advanced Settings button and choose an Anchor Text Box direction to set which direction the text emerges from as lines scale.

    - If the text box is near the bottom of the canvas, you’ll want to use the button where the arrow is pointing down. This option ensures your text emerges from the bottom of the canvas, and will prevent it from running off the bottom edge of the canvas.

    - If the text box is near the top of the canvas, you’ll want to use the button where the arrow is pointing up. This option ensures your text emerges from the top of the canvas, and will prevent it from running off the top edge of the canvas.

    - If the text box is near the center of the canvas, you’ll want to use the button where the arrow is pointing in both directions.

  4. Finally, once you’ve done all of your other edits to your template, click on the downward arrow next to the green Apply in the lower right corner and select “Save Template” (if updating an existing template) or “Save as New Template” if creating a brand-new template.
